This research project, funded by the FCT (Fundação para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia, in Portugal), stemmed from the observation that the average age of the population in many European countries is increasing and people are required to work longer than in the past due to the postponement of the retirement age in many countries.
Therefore, it is important to guarantee a high quality of life in the workplace at different stages of the life cycle, ensuring development and maintenance of skills and employability, as well as well-being, self-fulfillment and personal development in all stages.
In the belief that it is the small things that make important differences in our life, the DaILY project aims to study how people experience, interpret and react to daily events at work, and how such events are related to their wellbeing, motivation and job performance. We especially investigate whether and how such daily experiences vary by age with the goal to assist individuals, managers and organizations in improving the quality of working life for workers of all ages.
